My name is Kelly Jacobson and I am the very proud principal of Maryview Catholic School.
I was born and raised in Sherwood Park, Alberta. I attended the University of Alberta where I received my Bachelor of Education in Elementary Education. I began my teaching career in Red Deer at St. Patrick's Community School in 1998. There, I taught grades 2 and 3 for many years, until eventually moving to teach middle school. In 2006, I moved schools to become the counsellor at St. Thomas Aquinas Middle School, where I stayed for 6 years. While at St. Thomas, I received my Masters of Arts in Counselling Psychology. In 2012, I was lucky enough to work as an administrator and I have been helping lead schools since then. I have been blessed to be a part of Red Deer Catholic Schools for 23 years and love working with the students and staff of this great school division.
My wife I have 3 children, my oldest daughter is 20 years old and at Red Deer College, studying to receive her education degree, my son is 19 years old and is playing junior hockey and taking his EMR course. Next year, his plan is to start taking his courses to become a paramedic. My youngest daughter is 15 years old and attends Notre Dame High School. My wife and I have been married for 21 years and she also works for Red Deer Catholic Schools in the HR department.
My favorite sports are hockey and football. My favorite team is the Edmonton Oilers.
As an educator in Red Deer Catholic, I have been blessed to be a part of such a faith-filled division. Every day is a new day at Maryview and it has been a gift to be a part of such a dedicated staff and parish team to support our students.
